Dev Roopa is an offbeat trek and not many people are aware about it. The trek starts from Malana Dam and continues on the bank of Malana river for a day. The trek is unique because of the place Dev Roopa, which is religious and very scenic. The trek offers some of the amazing views of Ali Ratna, Tiger Teeth and other peaks.
✔️Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
✔️Three layers of warm clothes : Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
✔️Two/Three trek pants : Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
✔️Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
✔️Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
✔️Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
✔️Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
✔️Water proof hand gloves : Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
✔️Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
✔️Headlamp/LED torch : Mandatory
✔️Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
✔️Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].

Get down at Patlikuhal(20 kms after kullu and 20 kms before Manali). Transport options are readily available from Patlikuhal to Rumsu camp.
All the participants should report at Rumsu base camp by 8 AM and will undergo registration process. Freshening up and breakfast will happen at the base camp. Post breakfast we will go for an acclimatization walk.
Lunch at 1 PM. Post lunch orientation. Orientation will cover all the general instructions that could be helpful for the trek like backpacking, marching technique and medical awareness. Post snacks we will have an ice breaking session.
Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp.
We will start the day early with a jeep ride from Rumsu to Malana dam. We will go for a trek to Malana village.Malana has its own lifestyle and social structure and people are strict in following their customs. The village has the oldest democracy. We will then descend to Behali from Malana.Overnight stay in tents at Behali campsite.
The trek route takes around 5-6 hours. The trail goes through some dense patches of forest. After 3 hours from Behali we will reach to Chota Grahan. Lunch at Chota Grahan. Both the places Chota Grahan and Mota Grahan are "Thach" used by shepherds as grazing ground. The grounds are big and plain here. Mota Grahan campsite gives an amazing experience of camping at River side. Overnight stay in tents at Mota-Grahan campsite.
The trek to Bogdi from Behali is long, around 6 hours. Bogdi is basically the base camp for Dev Roopa. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach Dev Roopa from here.
By 2 PM we will reach Bogdi and for rest of the day we will relax at Bogdi camp site. Overnight stay in tents at Bogdi camp site.
After breakfast we will start our trek for Dev Roopa. There are 3 steep climbs of one hour each to reach Dev roopa. The route runs parallel to a stream which comes from Dev Roopa.
Dev Roopa is a very sacred place for the locals. Locals bring their God for giving them the holy bath. So care should be taken that no littering happens here. The whole place is around 4 to 5 football grounds size and is perfectly plain because of which the water runs making loops and curves.
Lunch at Dev Roopa. We will then descend for Bogdi camp site. Overnight stay in tents at Bogdi camp site.
This day we will start early with the descend after breakfast. It takes around 5 to 6 hours to complete the whole descend till Behali. Jeep Ride to Kasol/Manikaran. Departure from Kasol.
Dev Roopa is an ideal trek for beginners. It is appropriate for participants who wish to experience all kinds of terrain. This trek includes forests, meadows, villages and snow-covered mountains.
Dev Roopa trek offers an absolute escapade and is recommended for beginners and moderate level trekkers.

The best seasons to do the Dev Roopa is from mid June to mid October.
Dev Roopa – stands at a majestic 14,000 ft. With the stunning views of jagged mountains and snow-capped peaks all around.
The average temperature in the daytime will be 12°C to 18°C and in night it could be 0°C to 4°C.
One must bring enough pair of clothes and best-quality trekking boots (Water proof) to cover the whole trek carefully and does not face any difficulties due to cold.
Preparing yourself well before coming for and Himalayan trek is really important. Dev Roopa is moderate trek and requires an average level of fitness.
Average physical fitness you can achieve by routinely doing a 20-30 min cardio exercises like running, skipping, crunches, squats. Work on your calf muscles, knees and thighs.
Apart from average physical fitness you need to be properly acclimatized before starting the trek so keep you body well hydrated and rest enough after reaching the base camp.
The mobile connectivity is not available at most part of the trek route.
