Goru Pass trek is a moderate level and offers some of the amazing views of Deo Deo Tibba, Jagatsukh and Norbu Peak. Its a complete trek with a variety of landscapes like alpine forest, green meadows, waterfall, moraines and much more. The pass connects the famous Malana valley with the Jagatsukh valley.
✔️Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
✔️Three layers of warm clothes : Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
✔️Two/Three trek pants : Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
✔️Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
✔️Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
✔️Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
✔️Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
✔️Water proof hand gloves : Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
✔️Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
✔️Headlamp/LED torch : Mandatory
✔️Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
✔️Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].

Get down at Patlikuhal(20 kms after kullu and 20 kms before Manali). Transport options are readily available from Patlikuhal to Rumsu camp.
All the participants should report at Rumsu base camp by 8 AM and will undergo registration process. Freshening up and breakfast will happen at the base camp. Post breakfast we will go for an acclimatization walk.
Lunch at 1 PM. Post lunch orientation. Orientation will cover all the general instructions that could be helpful for the trek like backpacking, marching technique and medical awareness. Post snacks we will have an ice breaking session.
Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp.
After morning breakfast we will start with a jeep ride to khanol village, the starting point of the trek . Trek to Chikka falls relatively easy and does not take more than 2 hours. The trek goes through a dense forest patch for an hour and opens up just before reaching Chikka. One can find locals coming till this point for the sake of the Nag temple. A naturally formed temple of Shiva can also be seen. Camping and littering is strictly prohibited near the temple. Participants will camp overnight at Chikka.
After morning breakfast we will start our trek to Seri. Initial patch of the trek is through the jungle and rocky terrain and takes around six hours to reach Seri. Seri is a vast spread of flat green meadows almost the size of three to four football grounds put together. A beautiful waterfall is witnessed followed by different tributaries. Overnight camping at Seri.
The day’s trek starts at ease by 8 AM as the route falls to be quite easy. The trek from Seri to Goru Thach goes in the south direction from Seri just next to the Goru stream. After a couple of hours trek, we reach Goru Thach. The Thach is used by the local shepherds of the valley. The view of the pass gets clear from here. Once at camp we will acclimatize by a short hike in the next day’s route. Overnight stay at Goru Thach camp.
Being the longest day of the trek, we start it early by 5 AM from Goru Thach. Getting close to the pass, the views of Deo Tibba and Norbu peak starts getting clear. The entire route remains covered with snow and involves few moraine patch before reaching the pass. Once at the pass, the views of the famous peaks of Parvati valley can be spotted. The descent to the pass falls to be relatively easy and takes around a couple of hours to reach Bareh. Overnight stay at Bareh.
The descent from Bareh to Malana dam goes through a mixed patch of meadow and forest until we reach Malana Dam. The descent is moderate and takes around 4 hours. Once at Malana Dam, we will continue with a jeep ride to Kaso. Departure from kasol by 5 PM.
Goru Pass is an ideal trek for beginners. It is appropriate for participants who wish to experience all kinds of terrain. This trek includes forests, meadows, villages and snow-covered mountains.

The average temperature in the daytime will be 12°C to 18°C and in night it could be 0°C to 4°C.
One must bring enough pair of clothes and best-quality trekking boots (Water proof) to cover the whole trek carefully and does not face any difficulties due to cold.
Preparing yourself well before coming for and Himalayan trek is really important. Goru Pass is moderate trek and requires an average level of fitness.
Average physical fitness you can achieve by routinely doing a 20-30 min cardio exercises like running, skipping, crunches, squats. Work on your calf muscles, knees and thighs.
Apart from average physical fitness you need to be properly acclimatized before starting the trek so keep you body well hydrated and rest enough after reaching the base camp.
