Rumsu is a beautiful village which is 6 km from Naggar. As you travel further away from Naggar and get nearer to Rumsu you feel like you are leaving all modern things behind and accepting rustic charm of nature.

Rumsu is one of the historic villages in Himachal Pradesh, its history is traced till the extent of 700 years. The village has 150 houses and a population of 750 people approximately. The villagers are mostly engaged in farming and tourism jobs. Rumsu falls under one of the very famous trek routes to Malana Valley.

After reaching Rumsu base camp, camp leader will give you an introductory orientation about the campsite and detailed insight on the proceedings of the next four days in the wilderness of the Himalayas. Following the orientation, the trekkers will move for a short walk to the Pulag falls in Pulag village. During acclimatisation walk around Rumsu and Pulag village you will get a chance to explore the culture and the lifestyle of High Altitude Himalayan Village.

You will find typical Himalayan village having old wooden homes and apple orchards. A small temple dedicated to God Jamlu is the centre of the Rumsu village. All activities go around in small ground adjacent to this Temple. The Village temples are made of rock and wood and the interiors of the temple are mostly empty but inner and outer walls have beautiful wooden carvings. It’s a fine piece of art.

The village lives in a cultural and economic harmony, it runs its own cleaning program on every 10th of the month, all the villagers unite together to clean the village, Rumsu is one of the cleanest villages with a good and a mature hygiene sense. The trek to Sterling from Rumsu is a gentle climb and takes around two to three hours to reach. The last patch is steep climb to the ridge but short and not very difficult. Do follow the guidelines of trek leader and avoid breaking any rules as it can be lethal.

Sterling, is a meadow amidst dense Himalayan forest, with gentle snow slopes where participants can enjoy lot of snow activities and snow slides. Freezing temperature, Snow blizzard, hailstorm, rain, snowfall, thunder, you could witness all of these at this camp. Sterling forest is a totally snow covered camp site during winters. This is your opportunity to play, slide, take pictures, make snowman, fall and have fun.

Participants can walk deeper in Jungle and enjoy more with nature. Ghankulhadi campsite is nearby flat snow covered landscape almost at 2700 meters. Till Ghankulhadi the trek route involves a moderate climb on snow covered meadow and takes around 2 hours. Participants could have Bonfire in the evening.

The descend to Rumsu base camp, takes around 2-3 hours to reach. The drive to Manali from Rumsu takes around 90 mins. Last day of the event you can reach Manali mall road by noon, and have enough time to purchase some souvenirs and board your transportation later in the evening.
