About Pin Parvati Pass Trek

The Pin Parvati Pass Trek is a challenging high-altitude trek that connects the Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh to the Pin Valley in Spiti. Spanning around 110 km, it takes trekkers through diverse landscapes, from lush forests and alpine meadows to barren high-altitude deserts. The pass, standing at 5,319 meters (17,450 feet), offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and remote villages. Known for its difficulty, the trek requires proper acclimatization and physical fitness. How to reach Kasol, Parvati Valley?

  1. Take a direct bus from New Delhi/Chandigarh for Kasol.
  2. Buses run between 5 pm - 10 pm from Delhi and takes 12-14 hrs to Kasol.
  3. From Chandigarh they run in between 10 pm - 2 am and takes 6-7 hrs to Kasol. Once at Kasol, follow google map location for our base camp.
  4. We will share the location on WhatsApp group. It’s at walking distance from Kasol main chowk.

Note : If you are staying in Manali, take a direct cab or public bus for Kasol (76 km).

Things to Carry

  • Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
  • Three layers of warm clothes : Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
  • Two/Three trek pants : Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
  • Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
  • Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
  • Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
  • Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
  • Water proof hand gloves : Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
  • Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
  • Headlamp/LED torch : Mandatory
  • Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
  • Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].
  • Toiletries: Keep items like toilet paper, wipes, moisturiser and sunscreen.
  • First Aid Kit: Carry items like few basic medicines, few antiseptics and adhesives.

Itinerary

Participants should report at Kailashrath Treks Kasol Base Camp by 10 AM. Once all the participants have reported at base camp they will undergo a registration procedure [all the participants will be requested to verify their Medical certificate and ID proof]. Post lunch acclimatization walk to Chalal village. In the evening, a brief session will be conducted regarding the route and a few important tips. Overnight stay at Kasol base camp.

Mandatory Documents

  1. ✔️ Medical Certificate should be signed by a registered MBBS doctor and should have the seal of the doctor.
  2. ✔️ Original and photocopy of Aadhar card required. In case of Foreign Nationals Passport and Visa would be required.
  3. ✔️ NOC form with participant signature (will be provided on arrival at base camp)
  4. ✔️ Passport sized photograph - 2 no.

Who can participate ?

Pin Parvati Pass is ideal for those who have a decent level of fitness and a minimum of two Himalayan trek experiences of 4000+ meters altitude. It’s recommended for intermediate trekkers who are comfortable with high-altitude trekking. You should not have any serious medical issues related to Hypertension, Asthma, Diabetes, breathing problems or any other medical conditions which create difficulties for you while trekking or climbing.

You should prepare yourself before participating in the trek. You should be able to run 10 kms in 50 minutes. If you are with a BMI of 30 and above, you need to get it below 30 before joining the program

  1. Physical Preparation: A solid fitness regimen focusing on cardio, strength, and endurance is crucial. Regular trekking and climbing practice will be beneficial.
  2. Gear and Equipment: You’ll need mountaineering boots, crampons, an ice axe, harness, ropes, and cold-weather gear. Make sure your gear is well-fitted and in good condition.
  3. Permits and Documentation: Ensure you have the necessary permits and documentation to trek in the region. It’s a good idea to arrange these well in advance..
