How to reach Sankri village, Uttarakhand?
To reach Sari Village (base for Deoriatal–Chandrashila trek), start from Haridwar or Rishikesh, accessible by train or flight (via Dehradun airport).
By Public Transport:
- Take a bus/shared taxi to Rudraprayag (₹400–₹600, 6–8 hrs), then a bus/shared cab to Ukhimath (₹100–₹200).
- From Ukhimath, take a shared jeep or local taxi to Sari Village (₹50–₹100). Total budget: ₹600–₹1,000 per person. Travel time: 10–12 hours.
By Private Taxi:
- Hire a private cab from Haridwar/Rishikesh to Sari via Rudraprayag and Ukhimath. Cost: ₹5,500–₹7,500 (one way, for full vehicle). Ideal for groups or those seeking comfort. Travel time: 8–9 hours.
NOTE: Transport will be arranged at 7 am sharp by Kailashrath Treks on request. This costs Rs 1100 (additional 5% GST) per trekker (one-way) for the journey from Rishikesh to Sari.
Things to Carry
- Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
- Three layers of warm clothes : Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
- Two/Three trek pants : Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
- Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
- Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
- Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
- Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
- Water proof hand gloves : Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
- Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
- Headlamp/LED torch : Mandatory
- Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
- Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].

Itinerary
- Your Himalayan adventure kicks off with a scenic drive from Rishikesh to Sari Village, a charming hamlet nestled at 2,000 meters.
- Transport will be arranged at 7 am sharp. This costs Rs 1100 (additional 5% GST) per trekker (one-way) for the journey from Rishikesh to Sari.
- The 7–8 hour journey winds through lush foothills, terraced fields, and river valleys, offering glimpses of local life and stunning landscapes.
- Upon arrival, settle into your homestay, relax, and acclimatize to the altitude.
- Orientation and trek briefing will be held at 6 PM.
- Overnight stay at Sari.
Mandatory Documents
- Medical Certificate should be signed by a registered MBBS doctor and should have the seal of the doctor.
- Original and photocopy of Aadhar card required. In case of Foreign Nationals Passport and Visa would be required.
- NOC form with participant signature.
- Passport sized photograph - 2 no.

Who can participate ?
Anyone who is above 12 years of age with a good physical strength and stamina can participate in the event. Participants should not have any medical issues like Hypertension, Asthma, Diabetes or breathing problems.
Participants should prepare themselves before participating in the trek such that they are able to jog/brisk walk 5 kms in 40 minutes. Participants with a BMI of 30 and above need to get it below 30 before joining the trek.
Preparation :
Strong physical fitness is a must for any Himalayan Treks. Whenever one is undertaking activities like High Altitude Trekking, make sure that you are preparing yourself for the trek in terms of Aerobic fitness, muscle strength and breathing rhythm.
