How to reach Rumsu village, Himachal?

  1. Take a bus from New Delhi/Chandigarh for Manali and get down at Patlikuhal (20 kms before Manali)
  2. Transport options are readily available from Patlikuhal for Rumsu village. Sumo – 700 INR while small car – 500 INR.
  3. Once at Rumsu village follow the trail for Kailashrath Treks base camp.


Note : If you are staying already in Manali, take a direct cab for Rumsu village (26 kms)

Things to Carry

  • Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
  • Three layers of warm clothes : Carry a Hard shell jacket, fleece jacket and a down jacket.
  • Two/Three trek pants : Carry one quick dry material trek pant for the low altitude and a water repellant mountaineering trouser for the summit.
  • Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
  • Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
  • Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory due to the excessive snow exposure.
  • Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
  • Waterproof hand gloves/mittens: Carry waterproof gloves which can act as a mitten too. Carry an additional liner glove to add the warmth.
  • Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
  • Headlamp and Balaclava: These are quite helpful for the summit push which happens in night in cold temperature.
  • Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
  • Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].
  • Toiletries: Keep items like toilet paper, wipes, moisturiser and sunscreen.
  • First Aid Kit: Carry items like few basic medicines, few antiseptics and adhesives.

Itinerary

Members should report by 8 AM to Rumsu base camp. We will start the day with our entire back packing of all the stay gear, utensils, rations, adventure gear and medical kit.

Participants will have to make sure that they do not leave any of their essential items required. Rest of the day can be used for acclimatization via a short trek to Chi Chogi village.

Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp(2050 m)

  2. ✔️ Original and photocopy of Aadhar card required. In case of Foreign Nationals Passport and Visa would be required.

Who can participate ?

Deo tibba Peak is ideal for those who have a decent level of fitness and a minimum of one Himalayan Expedition experiences of 5000+ meters altitude. It’s recommended for intermediate trekkers who are comfortable with high-altitude trekking and have a basic understanding of technical climbing skills. You should not have any serious medical issues related to Hypertension, Asthma, Diabetes, breathing problems or any other medical conditions which create difficulties for you while trekking or climbing.

Preparation includes building endurance through regular cardio, strength training, and altitude acclimatization. Acquiring skills like ice axe use, crampon walking, and rope techniques is crucial, ideally through mountaineering courses. Ensure mental toughness and an understanding of high-altitude conditions. Additionally, medical checks to assess health readiness are necessary. The expedition requires commitment to safety and teamwork, with proper gear, food, and a trained guide or support team.
