About

Snow trek in Manali is a winter event designed for beginners who wants to experience snow trek for the first time.
This event is ideal for family and friends.
Children above 5 years of age are allowed in the event. 

Things to carry ?

✔️Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.

✔️Three layers of warm clothes : Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
✔️Two/Three trek pants : Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
✔️Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
✔️Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
✔️Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
✔️Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
✔️Water proof hand gloves : Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
✔️Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
✔️Headlamp/LED torch : Mandatory
✔️Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
✔️Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].

Day 01 : Reporting at Majnu ka tila Bus stand, New delhi.

Members have to report by 5 PM at Majnu Ka Tila Bus Stand, New delhi. No delay in reporting will be compromised.

• Bus tickets will be booked through redbus.in app
• 12-14 hours expected bus ride from Delhi to Manali
• Bus Type: Semi Sleeper Volvo.
• Bus will halt around 10 PM for dinner at some Motel.
Dinner charges not included.

Day 2 : Reporting at Rumsu Base Camp and visit to Naggar

• Reach Rumsu base camp by 8 AM. Freshen up and Registration.
• Visit Naggar, a famous tourist destination via a short trek.
• Explore the rich historic aura of Naggar via the beautiful Naggar Castle, Tripura Sundari and Gauri Shankar temple and the famous Roerich Art Gallery.
• Trek back to Rumsu base camp for overnight stay.

Day 3 : Trek to Ghankulhadi (9,100 | 4 km | 3-4 hrs)

• Start by 8 AM for the trek to Sterling forest.
• Sterling, is a dark green meadow amidst dense Himalayan forest, with gentle snow slopes where participants can enjoy a lot of snow activities like Snow slides, making snowmen and igloos.
• The trek to Sterling is a steep climb and takes around two to three hours to reach.
A short hike for an hour from Sterling takes you to an open meadow known as Ghankulhadi. It offers some of the most amazing views of the Dhauladhar range.
• The descent route from Sterling to Rumsu is a gradual one and takes not more than a couple of hours.
• Bonfire and Overnight stay at Rumsu camp.

Day 4 : Visit to Manali

• The day starts with a jeep ride ride to Manali from Rumsu after breakfast.
• Manali has a lot to offer in terms of old historic temples of Hidimba and Manu, beautiful Nature Park and the famous Mall road to shop souvenirs and try some local cuisine.
• Participants will explore all of these places via walk and will be accompanied by our guide. Participants must assemble back to Mall road by 5 PM to continue with their jeep ride for Rumsu camp. Overnight stay at Rumsu Camp.

Day 5 : Paragliding, Rafting and Departure for Delhi from Patlikuhal.

• The day will start with a jeep ride for Dobhi, where members can opt for activities like Rafting and Paragliding for extra charges.
• Below are the charges for the activities:
- Paragliding [Fly time 5-7minutes]: 2000 INR per pax*
- Rafting [9 kms on Beas River]: 1000 INR per pax*
• Members not willing for the activity can relax at Rumsu base camp and leave directly to board bus for New Delhi at 4 PM from Patlikuhal stop.

• Members will reach New Delhi by 7-8 AM. Keep 3 hours buffer for your onward travel.

Is it appropriate for beginners ?

Snow Trek is very popular among first time trekkers. The route is one of the most gripping and exciting trekking trails in India but an extremely convenient one to start your trekking goals. The trek doesn’t have many steep slopes to climb and maintain a gradual gradient throughout making it a perfect fit for beginners as well as for experienced trekkers.
You do not need any special preparation for doing this trek and just basic physical fitness is required.

What is the best time to visit ?

The best time to visit Snow trek is between December to March.

A trek during the winter lays an untouched snow-laden path in front of you waiting to be experienced and explored. 

What is the average temperature ?

The average temperature in the day time will be 7°C to 10°C and in night it could be 0°C to 4°C.
One must bring enough pair of clothes and best-quality trekking boots (Water proof) to cover the whole trek carefully and does not face any difficulties due to cold.

What level of fitness is required ?

Preparing yourself well before coming for and Himalayan trek is really important. Snow trek is easy trek and requires basic level of fitness.
Basic physical fitness you can achieve by routinely doing a 20-30 min cardio exercises like running, skipping, crunches, squats. Work on your calf muscles, knees and thighs.
Apart from basic physical fitness you need to be properly acclimatized before starting the trek so keep you body well hydrated and rest enough after reaching the base camp.
