About

Deo Tibba at 6,001 meters stands as the second highest peak of Pir Panjal range in the Kullu valley. The place is religious a sits believed to be the assembly place of all the Gods. The trek starts along Jagatsukh Nala till Deo Tibba Base. The trek demands that the members are aware of the basic mountaineering skills.

How to reach Rumsu Base camp ?

By Bus/taxi: Take a bus headed towards Manali from Delhi/Chandigarh and get down at Patlikuahal stop(20 km before Manali) and take a taxi to Rumsu. Taxi charges are Rs 500-700 per vehicle (7 seater)

Things to carry ?

✔️Trekking shoes : Carry water proof trekking shoes with good grip and ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.

✔️Three layers of warm clothes : Carry two or three-layer jackets, fleece jackets and a padded jacket.
✔️Two/Three trek pants : Carry light cotton trek pants. Denim/jeans and shorts are not suitable for trekking.
✔️Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit) : Full sleeved t-shirts that prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.
✔️Thermals : Carry thermals (top and bottom).
✔️Sunglasses : Sunglasses are mandatory. There will be lot of snow on the trek and can cause snow blindness.
✔️Cap : At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect yourself.
✔️Water proof hand gloves : Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.
✔️Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks : Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.
✔️Headlamp/LED torch : Mandatory
✔️Raincoat/Ponchos : At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall.
✔️Lunch box and water bottle : Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].

Itinerary

Day 1 : Reporting and Flag Off.
Day 1 : Reporting and Flag Off.

All the participants will have to report by 8 AM to Rumsu base camp. We will start the day with our entire back packing of all the stay gear, utensils, rations, adventure gear and medical kit.
Participants will have to make sure that they do not leave any of their essential item required. Rest of the day can be used for acclimatization via a short trek to Chi Chogi village.
Overnight stay at Rumsu base camp(2050 m)

Day 2: Jeep ride to Jagatsukh dam and trek to Chikka.
Day 2: Jeep ride to Jagatsukh dam and trek to Chikka.

The day will start early with a jeep ride from Rumsu to Jagatsukh dam(2,700 meters). We will then start the trek for Chikka Campsite(3,000 meters) which will take us around 2 hours from Jagatsukh Dam. Overnight stay at Chikka campsite. The campsite is just next to the local temple and next to Jagatsukh Nala.

The trek from Chikka goes on the right bank of Jagatsukh Nala for 4 hours until one reaches to a large green flat ground almost around 4 to 5 big football ground size. Do overnight stay at Seri campsite(3,900 meters).

We will start the day’s trek for Deo Tibba base which will take around 4 hours from Seri campsite. There are two steep climbs, one before Tenta and the other after it, and three stream crossing on the way to Deo Tibba base camp(4,400 meters) from Seri campsite. Overnight stay will happen at Deo Tibba base.

Day 5 : Acclimatization day at Deo Tibba Base.

We will use the day to get acclimatized with the height by a short trek to Chota Chandrataal. Post lunch cramponing practice. Overnight stay at Deo Tibba base camp.

Day 6 : Climb from Deo Tibba base to Camp 1.

The entire team will start the trek for Camp 1 with rest of the load ferry of personal items. Once we reach Camp 1, the rest of the day can be used for further height gaining and acclimatisation. Overnight at Camp 1.

Day 7: Acclimatisation at Camp 1.

The team will get acclimatised at Camp 1. Doing Norbu peak is a good option which takes around 4 hours as acclimatization. Few of the team members will move and fix the rope to the steep gully before Summit Camp. Overnight stay at Camp 1.

Day 8: Advance to Summit Camp.

The entire team will move ahead with all their personal equipment to Summit Camp. The route goes via a steep snow gully following the southeast(piton) ridge. Overnight stay at Summit Camp.

Day 9: Summit attempt for Deo Tibba.

Being the summit day, we will start our trek by 1 AM for Deo Tibba summit(6,001 meters). It takes around 3 hours to reach Camp 2. We will skip Camp 2 and directly head for summit. Once the summit is done we will head down to Camp 1 and do overnight stay.
If the weather is bad we will follow the same itinerary next day.

Day 10: Extra buffer day for summit.

Day 11: Descend to Deo Tibba Base.

All the members will descend to Deo Tibba base via Dhuang Col. Overnight stay at Deo Tibba base camp.

Day 12: Deo Tibba base to Manali.

We will directly descend from Deo Tibba base to Jagatsukh dam. The descend takes around 6 to 7 hours. Ride back to Rumsu base camp. Overnight at Rumsu camp.

Day 13: Departure from base camp for Manali after breakfast.

Is it appropriate for beginners ?

Nope. The expedition is only recommended for experienced climbers

What is the duration ?

Deo Tibba Expedition takes minimum of 13 days. Keep a couple of days extra in the start for better acclimatisation.

What is the best time to visit ?

The best time for the expedition is June and September month.

What is the maximum altitude ?

The true summit of the peak lies at 19,688 feet.

What is the average temperature ?

The average temperature in the daytime will be 12°C to 18°C and in night it could be -10°C to 4°C.

What level of fitness is required ?

Deo Tibba at 6001 Meters presents a substantial level of challenge to all the climbers attempting it. Its always recommended to prepare well before going the expedition.
Stick to an hour training session at least a month before the expedition. Indulge in cardio based exercises and muscle strengthening.

Is mobile network available ?

There is no mobile connectivity in the trek except for the first day in Manali.
