Kedarkantha Trek is very popular among first time trekkers. It is one of the most gripping and exciting trekking trails in India but an extremely convenient one to start your trekking goals. The Kedarkantha Peak at 12,500 ft (easy level), doesn’t have many steep slopes to climb and maintain a gradual gradient throughout making it a perfect fit for beginners as well as for experienced trekkers. You do not need any special preparation for doing this trek and just basic physical fitness is required.

Right from Sankri village, you will start seeing the snow across your way - the snow-capped mountain peaks & snow-laden forest. As you reach the meadows, you will soon find yourself amid white snow for as far as your eyes go. The towering trees loaded with snow in and around your path makes this not only an adventurous but also a scenic journey.
6: Juda ka Talab - Frozen Lake:
Juda Ka Talab is a beautiful pristine lake surrounded by pine forests. The lake could be fully or semi frozen during winters depending on snowfall. You can easily walk on the ice sheet or glide on it with cautious and under guidance and feel the thrill of standing directly on top of a cavity hundreds of feet deep. It's a surrealistic experience to enjoy snowfall at this lake.
7: The expedition like feel:
Kedarkantha is a trekkable peak and same set of rules of expedition apply here also. You rest at the base camp the night before the summit, wake up early morning 3-4 am to start your summit attempt. Using microspikes to walk on snow similarly to cramp-ons which we used in high altitude expedition. It's an overwhelming experience of trekking in the middle of the night in freezing cold weather, with your head torches lighting the way. Watching the sunrise from the peak gives you a feeling that you are on a high altitude expedition, just on a smaller scale.

Right from the Kedarkantha base camp, you’ll see stunning 360 degree view of famous mountain summits around you. The views from the top of Kedarkantha peak is unmatchable. You get to see famous peaks like Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kalanag, Gangotri, Yamunotri range and hundreds of unnamed virgin peaks all around you.
